Rottweiler Training – How You Can Get A Perfectly Behaved Rottweiler

Rottweiler training can be difficult, but if you let your dog know that you are the boss from the get go, it will go much easier. You see, most Rottweiler’s by nature want to be “top dog” so you need to establish that you are the leader in order to have the ability to train him properly.

There are several things you can do to accomplish this. The most important is to get your dog to roll on his back and expose his belly to you. Exposing the belly is a posture of submission which will establish you as the leader. Secondly, make sure you always go through any doorway first. And a third is to establish eye contact with your dog and maintain it until he looks down or away.

When training your dog, positive reinforcement is the best course of action. This consists of rewarding desirable behavior and carefully correcting bad behavior. Yelling and hitting your dog is not effective for training and will never produce the obedient dog you desire. Certainly, positive reinforcement incorporating praise for the wanted behavior together with treats can be the way to develop a bond and get your dog to respond to your commands.

Dog training isn’t something that can be done in an afternoon, you need to keep at it consistently. Preferably, training must be performed every day so be sure to plan this in to your schedule. Each session doesn’t have to take a long time – 10 or 15 minutes is often sufficient.

With dog training, all work and no play is just no fun so try splitting them up with 5 or 10 minutes of training and then 5 minutes of play time. Then take another few minutes for training training. Think about playing with various methods until you determine what works perfectly for your dog.

Training your dog is more about determination and repetition than anything else. Maintaining a daily training session where you go over the commands your dog has already mastered and then repeat new commands is crucial. You can do 1 training session a day or split it into 2 sessions but the important thing is that you do it consistently every day.

Training any dog can be a challenge, but rottweiler training has it’s own challenges. To be effective, you have to be sure to work with the nature of the dog. This way, you can be sure that your dog will be a breeze to train and will wind up being an obedient pet that everyone will love to be around.
